You are invited to the Festival Brikcius - the 5th chamber music concert series in Prague (Bach331 - MAKANNA - Goldberg Variations 1741 - ITALIAN BAROQUE - Nocí prošel den),
that is held annually under the auspices of the Mayor of Prague 1,
Oldřich Lomecký and organized as a part of international Daniel Pearl
World Music Days.
This year the festival commemorates the 275th anniversary of the Goldberg Variations publishing in 1741, charity
concert dedicated to the 331st anniversary of the birth of Johann
Sebastian Bach and the 100th anniversary of the death of Max Reger
(#Reger2016), virtuoso works by Italian Baroque Composers (275th anniversary of Antonio Vivaldi, 365th anniversary of Domenico Gabrielli) and 18th Festival Poetry Day (206th anniversary of the birth of poet Karel Hynek Mácha).
Concerts are held on 1st - 16th November 2016 in Prague
(Military Church of St. Jan Nepomucký, Unijazz, Loreta, Baroque chapel
of the Istituto Italiano di Cultura di Praga and the Štefánik
Observatory). Free entry.
- Charity concert CELLO SUITES for Lékaři bez hranic | Médecins Sans Frontičres
will take place on Thursday 3rd November 2016 at 7:30 p.m., at the
Military Church of St. Jan Nepomucký (Kanovnická 5/72, Praha 1 -
Hradčany). Czech cellist František Brikcius will play Suite No. 3 in C major for Solo Cello (BWV 1009) by Johann Sebastian Bach (the 331st anniversary of the birth of Johann Sebastian Bach), Suite No. 2 in d minor for Solo Cello (Op. 131c) by Max Reger (the 100th anniversary of the death of Max Reger, #Reger2016) and Passacaglia by Georg Friedrich Händel.
Free entry; voluntary donations collected at the event will go to
charitable purposes of the Lékaři bez hranic | Médecins Sans Frontičres.
- Screening of new music documentary film MAKANNA will take place on Wednesday 9th November 2016 at 7 p.m., at Unijazz (Jindřišská 5, Praha 1) to commemorate the 116th anniversary of the birth of Jiří Weil (1900 - 1959) and 18th festival Poetry day.
Free entry. The documentary, back in Prague following a screening in
Beijing, from the concert performance of MAKANNA (organised in the
cooperation with the Jewish Museum in Prague and held under the
auspices of Sir Tom Stoppard and Václav Havel) is based
on the novel of the Jewish writer Jiří Weil, about the rise and fall of
the 7th century false prophet with his face covered with the green veil
and his eyes glowing as embers. Featuring Jan Talich, Jan Židlický, František Brikcius, Irena Kosíková and Talich Chamber Orchestra.
- Organ concert GOLDBERG VARIATIONS 1741 will take place on Thursday 10th November 2016 at 6 p.m., at Loreta (Loretánské nám. 7, Praha 1 - Hradčany) to commemorate the 275th anniversary of the Goldberg Variations publishing in 1741. Organist and composer Irena Kosíková (France) will play legendary composition the Goldberg Variations (BWV 988), famous work by Johann Sebastian Bach. Free entry.
- Cello concert DUO BRIKCIUS - ITALIAN BAROQUE MASTERS
will take place on Tuesday 15th November 2016 at 7 p.m., at the Baroque
Chapel of the Istituto Italiano di Cultura di Praga (Vlašská 34, Praha
1). The two cellists, brother and sister Anna Brikciusová and František Brikcius (Duo Brikcius), will introduce a programme for two cellos with virtuosic compositions by baroque masters, commemorating the 275th anniversary of Antonio Vivaldi and the 365th anniversary of Domenico Gabrielli).
This event will feature composition Duo (1939 – 1940) by Terezín
composer Gideon Klein (1919 - 1945) and will premiere a new composition
Funambolo per due violoncelli (2016) by organist and composer Irena Kosíková. Free entry.
- Poetry reading POETRY DAY & NOCÍ PROŠEL DEN from Anna Brikciusová's
new poetry collection, with accompanying cello music by the author, is
scheduled for Wednesday 16th November 2016 at 4 p.m., at the Štefánik
Observatory (Strahovská 205, Praha 1), as part of the 18th Festival Poetry Day and the 206th anniversary of the birth of poet Karel Hynek Mácha (1810 - 1836). This event, introduced by Marie Jirásková, will premiere a new composition Vidět hvězdy (2016) for solo cello by organist and composer Irena Kosíková. Free entry.
